'09 ARCHITECTURE' IS THE COMMON GROUND OF VIOLA GURIOLI AND DAVIDE PONTONI.

A PLATFORM FOR RESEARCH AND EXPERIMENTATION ON ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN.

VIOLA GURIOLI

Viola is an Italian architect graduated at the Polytechnical School of Milan in 2012, currently based in London, where she works for the award-winning practice dRMM Architects since early 2013 and in parallel on 09 Architecture projects and research.

Her interest for architecture and design lies mainly in understanding the complexity of contemporary cities and in experimenting revitalization strategies at various scales, 'from the spoon to the city'.

Her Italian education has strongly influenced her creativity and her way of considering the project as part of a system in which cultural, social and historical forces are inter-related to the physical ones.

At the same time, her experiences abroad and the international context where she works and  act as a constant source of inspiration and contamination to her point of view.

During the last four years Viola has built-up a significant experience in residential design and in placemaking.

Along with this, she never misses a chance to give voice to her passion for details, materials, textures and colours to make each project unique and tailored to future users.

DAVIDE PONTONI

Davide graduated at the international Polytechnic University of Milan in 2012, with a master of science degree in architecture.

After his studies he worked in Copenhagen for the Danish practice called COBE until 2013. During this experience he had the opportunity to improve his skills on the design process and gain a wider understanding of town-planning.

In 2014 he moved to London and started working for dRMM architects, where he is currently employed. dRMM is an award winning practice with a vibrant international environment and a unique expertise on timber construction. Here Davide built up his knowledge on housing, infrastructure and large scale projects.

The time spent in foreign countries taught him to appreciate the value of multi-cultural based communities and the strengths offered by live close to stranger customs.

Parallel to architecture Davide develops a strong passion for storytelling, which became part of his design approach.
